Jordan Cañas

Account Manager

Jordan Cañas is an Account Manager at SAM, where she collaborates with partner organizations to achieve meaningful results. She joined SAM in 2025, bringing nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership and program development. 

Jordan began her career as an AmeriCorps volunteer, where she discovered the power of community-driven solutions. She later moved to Seattle to advance cancer research programs and served as an Information Specialist for the National Cancer Institute. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of a Seattle-based international nonprofit, where she led a transformative rebranding effort and oversaw a period of significant organizational growth. 

Jordan holds a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology with a minor in African and African American Studies from the University of Texas. She also earned a master’s degree in international community development from Northwest University.

Family: Husband, three children, and two cats named Merry and Pippin

Outside of work, I love... sewing and quilting, gardening, reading/my book club, cooking and hosting friends and neighbors, and having dance parties with my kiddos.

My workplace superpower is... communication. I enjoy being able to put words to difficult feelings or situations, and crafting ways to communicate creatively.

What inspires me about working with associations: I am honored by supporting people pursuing their passions and continued growth. It is exciting to learn about specific fields and see so many ways of working together.

Favorite SAM core value: Stay curious. I think it's incredibly valuable to stay open minded about what else might be happening below the surface—and know there is always more to learn!
